So, at smartvote.in, one can read interviews with all candidates. The questions seem to be same so one can make a good comparison. No leading questions to make candidate look good or bad or lop-side a public discourse. The three I read closely are:
HT Sangliana – INC
PC Mohan – B J P
Vijay Raj Singh – B S P
Interesting to know the 11:00 pm shut down of Bangalore started to get enforced by HT Sangliana when he was the Police Comm here. I have heard it before and there was a hint in the interview that it was 10:30 and then got pushed.
One candidate is retired IPS, one is two times MLC and one is MBA. Good collection. Many more too. Enjoy the wide range of choice to pick from!
So I searched my name in the updated list of voters and it is there! Lot of typos in my name, family name, fathers’ name, etc. But that is due to transliteration from Kannada to English. Election Officers are aware of this it is OK. Could not get the Voter ID card on time but Driver’s License is an accepted proof of Identity.
I am in 174 Mahadevapura Assembly Constituency (AC). It is a reserved AC. That means representative has to be from one of the Scheduled Caste. Had to google to find out that it is part of Bangalore Central Parliamentary Constituency.
This is the list of people in fray and one of these lucky person will get my vote!
There is a lot of talk about “Two India”, “India v/s Bharat”, “Rural v/s Urban”. “Secular v/s Communal”, etc. Stop wasting my time with this. Have you heard about that filmi phrase, “Unity in Diversity”? Have you really heard it? Diversity. This term does not imply dichotomy. It does not imply black & white, good & bad, etc but implies a many many many differences. We are diverse. Very diverse. Get it into your minds. There are many faces to a issues, there are many ways Indians look at an issue. There are no Two, but five, hundred or million Indias. Till we really grasp this, no problem will every get addressed because we will never really understand a problem.
I was always intrigued by how educated Indian saw no difference between perception and fact. No one wants to know the fact and all are happy with their perceptions. All I find are newspaper reports, comments and fleeing references. There is no place where real information exits. If it does, either it is not consistent or it is not complete. It is soo frustrating.Giving up on using statistics and numbers to decide on claims being thrown all across :-(

India GDP Growth Trend
Is there a trend between the PMs/Parties we have had and GDP growth? Raw numbers seem to say no. Once we came of the ’socialism’ trend of running economy, there has been a growth trend that has been amazing. Believe it or not, the seeds of these reforms were sowed by VP Singh who was FM during RG. The graph reflects this. Thoughts (Data driven and fact based and no assumptions, perceptions and party loyalism please)?
